It all started way back when....

In 2001, a group of local people from Portsmouth, thought it would be an amazing idea to open a not-for-profit bank, called a Credit Union.

With a handful of new Members (we have Members, not customers) and good intentions to save our community from high interest rate loans, excessive bank charges and those robotic call centres, our brilliant bank began life.

Jump forward to today, and over 46,000 local people across Hampshire & Isle of Wight have joined us, because they agreed that banking can be affordable, local and friendly (we talk to our members every day).

Those same members also wanted to invest in their local community, so we reinvested their savings in our local community for them, while offering a guaranteed return so they would never lose their money. How nice are we!

At the same time, we also promised to give any profits we made back to local people within the community, by helping to fund local groups or events (see what we mean here) or pay out a dividend (profit share) for our members.

Today

We're one of the largest community banks in England, and we're your local not-for-profit communtiy bank. We love being who we are, and you can join us by simply taking one of our amazing savings accounts or a personal loan.
